Unhappy Repetitive noise from rear left wheel when coasting

2003 EZGO TXT 36v

I have a strange noise coming from back left wheel area.

When the golf cart is under power, there are no noises at all. However, as soon as I lift my foot off the pedal, there is this strange, repetitive clicking noise that slows down as the cart slows down.

Anyone have any ideas? This **** noise is killing me.

Remove the central wheel hub! Maybe something inside.

Centrifugal force eliminates noise because the thing goes to outermost wall

I'm not sure if hub is the correct name. The round thing in the center of wheel. Cap?

Had something similar after changing to larger wheels, only noise on throttle lift and at only part of the rotation.

I would remove the wheel, pull the cotter pin and castle nut and pull the hub off. Inspect the brakes make sure the adjuster is aligned in the right place, blow out the dust/dirt if you have access to air. Reassemble and make sure the castle nut is touqued down correctly and reseat the wheel and see if that corrects it.

I think my castle nut wasn't torqued down or the wheel wasn't seated correctly. Either way the noise was corrected, might as well do the whole inspection while you're at it.

Edit - just noticed the video, yours is alot worse than what I had!

What is the proper torque for the castle nut?

I know....but that is the factory spec. best way to do it to torque to 140 ft-lbs and if the cotter pin hole lines up....your done, if not. you back it up until it goes in the first slot.

Never back up a torqued fastener to put a pin in. You can only safely go to the nearest slot that lines up, While Tightening, just below the max torque. Once you "back it off", you have just "started over" and it is just as accurate as being left finger tight.
