It's my understanding that lithium batteries should not be on a float charge.

Well, I have not received a response from EVbatterycenter.com, but I have found another BMS that may work if I can get pricing and shipping.....from EU.

Take a look and tell me what you guys might think. If pricing is not ridiculous I am thinking this BMS: http://www.rec-bms.com/BMS16S.html
And the LED display http://www.rec-bms.com/EVproducts.html (at top)
Reading the specs, it will make a neat dash display to monitor all battery and energy values and programing of the BMS functions and settings.

EVBatteryCenter always responded to my emails, but the last I heard from them (end of last week) was they would not be able to sell me the battery and BMS that I wanted for at least a few weeks.

Sometimes it took Nick a few days to respond though.

But I think their current employee problems may mean they have taken a leave of absence for a few days??? I have not bought anything from them, but I only hear really good things about their products and service so don't give up.

The other side of the coin is interesting though. Please let us know what you find with the rec-bms.com people. Always good to have a backup...

Well hoping to hear back soon, I heard that the guy who makes or imports the BMS for them is out sick for a while. Would like to find out about ordering and shipping options for some Leaf modules, I can balance them without a BMS, and use bottom balancing until I get a good BMS in place.
I travel often and live full time in an RV so shipping logistics can be fun. Oh well, guess I should not be in too big a hurry. I always shop for quality and pricing. It will eventually come together.

Well, received a response from rec-bms.com, pricing and shipping( at least to Dallas.TX area).....from EU.

for the REC Q BMS Unit for up to 16S
(with CAN communication protocol)
+ temperature sensor (1x)................................325.00 Euro

Current sensor Shunt
(100A, 200A, 300A, 500A).................................45.00 Euro
((should be standard 50mv shunt easily found here too)

Additional temperature sensor for BMS
(max. 3 sensors per unit)...................................6.30 Euro

PC Software BMS Master Control
+ connection cable RS-485 to USB......................55.00 Euro

LCD touch display for REC BMS..........................130.00 Euro

He quoted no more than 50Euro for shipping to 75041 zip code.

So at current prices, the BMS and touch screen comes out to right at 535USD+max of 58.80 USD for shipping.

Little pricy but a sound solution if nothing else comes about.

Reading the specs, it will make a neat dash display to monitor all battery and energy values and programing of the BMS functions and settings.
