Battery Fluid Transfer
Hi folks,
New guy to the carting world here. I've got a background with working on lots of mechanical things, but I've always been supremely cautious when dealing with anything electrical. I have a rebuilt 2014 RXV with four 12v Trojans (from 2016s) and the Flow Rite Pro Fill single point watering system. I recently watered the batteries with distilled water but one of the floats must have been stuck and a few cells got a little overwatered. Since then, the batteries has been seeping acid onto the top of the batteries. It's been enough to create a fair amount of dripping onto the garage floor. I'd like to use a plastic syringe to simply transfer some of the overfilled cells to others that could use a little more. Is this safe to do or do I need to completely disconnect the batteries from everything before doing so? The last thing I want to do is get myself unnecessarily shocked. I've searched Google and these forums but haven't been able to dig up an answer to this question. Any insight is very much appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Battery Fluid Transfer
transferring some fluid from one cell to another like you described is fine....and you will not be in harms way with any type of shock hazard.
