Upon further investigation, I discovered that the rear end/ motor was not locked up.
One of the brakes rusted stuck, when jacked up I could not turn wheel.
Had the motor ready to come out, dropped rear end before I realized it was a brake problem. Wasted 2 hours takin apart and puttin back together.
Maybe, one day I'll learn how to work on these things without going around my butt to get to my elbow.

So I'm guessing, the reason the controller popped was, people riding around in the cart with stuck brakes. Overheating controller and causing meltdown.
Does that sound right ?

It is quite possible... the added load would pull the pack voltage down resulting in a high amperage draw which could smoke the controller. Also could have been hard on the motor?

Yes, I'm worried about motor.
Did continuity test and it was good.
Should I put 24v to motor to test?
