Default Powerwise battery charger question

Hi. I have a 2006 lifted EZGO. I've owned it for about 8 years. It was preowned and has the original charger. I have the charger connected to a 100' (?) heavy duty extension cord that is plugged into an outside the house GFCI outlet. When I plug the charger into the cart, sometimes it doesn't come on at all. Sometimes it goes on/off/on/off in rapid succession. This happened a couple weeks ago, and then it started working fine. No other problems with the cart. Any suggestions where to start figuring it out? I tested the GFCI and was working fine.
Thanks!
(Just remember, I'm an old lady who doesn't know a whole lot about the inner workings of this cart). I do keep the batteries filled, and talk nice to it all the time. :)

I bet you have the small, lightweight charger with all the fins on one side. If so, it's probably a faulty charger. I have a mountain of those out back, all failed.

Thanks cgtech. No, my Powerwise battery is very heavy and has fins on more than one side. Earlier in the summer, I could see a paper wasp nest in there, but couldn't get it out. I did poke it and it dropped. Could it be causing some sort of short?
