Default 2007 TXT 36v needs new batteries

Time for new batteries. I have the Trojan T-105's. My cart has a 6 inch lift, 22 inch tires and Package 808 and 4 gauge wires from Carts Unlimited. The Trojans are expensive, what alternatives are there?

The Golf Cart Battery Comparison Sticky is 10 years old, not sure how relevant it is today.

I just upgraded to 48 volt, and spent a week or two comparing, asking questions and finally spent the money on Trojans. You get what you pay for..

It's been a few years - the 808 pkg had the 400DCX controller and 200 solenoid. You can bump to 42v operation with 2 changes, just move the solenoid blk (-) wire to 36v negative ( battery #6 not 7) and get a 42v charger.
For 48v operation you will want to upgrade the motor to Admiral B2 or FSIP. The original PDS motor just works it's guts out rather quickly on 48v.
I hope this helps

Alternative? The only alternative is a lessor quality battery that will not last as long or perform as good as a Trojan. I think the word you are looking for is Sacrifice.

in the world of golf cart batteries. 5 different brands come to mind as they are the ones you find on the different charger algorithm's : TROGAN, CROWN, US BATTERY, INTERSTATE, EXIDE

In all cases, considering your cart is lifted and has larger tires on it, what I would highly recommend to you, is buy a battery that is a step or two above the standard AH of 170.

I feel I need to make this clear. I do not intend to go to 42v or more. This would entail spending much more than I have. I just need 6 batteries.
I understand the overwhelming choice is Trojan batteries. I'm sure there are those in this forum that have used other brands. I hope to hear from them also.

Voltage makes no difference. You get what you pay for and have two choices. Pay a little more now, or a lot more later. Your choice,

Like most young consumers today are only short term minded. All that matters is what will it cost me today with no regards to long term cost or consequences.

When it comes right down to it the Trojans are less expensive. Take good care of them and they will last 5 years. Or save a few bucks today, use US Battery, and in 2 or 3 years you get to replace them again.

That is what it comes down to. So what are you going to do?

I will likely regret this...

I took the specs for Trojans into the local O'Reilly's and got the closest match.(actually slightly better on paper) I spent $500 plus tax(I rounded after cores)

Now, This was in April this year, and those batteries have been about the only thing I haven't wished was different. My arguement was the local place wanted 179 for each t105. So for those that say I will get 3-5 years out of my junk batteries, I will have a new set in and get to 6-10 years like your Trojans.

Time will tell, but I have a budget...and took a calculated risk.

Your mileage may vary.

The best bang for the buck is typically the highest number of Amp-Hours at the lowest overall cost sitting in the cart.

Think outside the box. My Exide batteries were ordered through my local Rural King and are going on 6 years old. (Nov-2012)
