Re: RXV NEW 36v Solenoid getting hot before cart moves
Quote:
Scottyb tells me this solenoid is rated at 10hrs continuous at 36v. Since the RXV Solenoid holdin voltage falls to 24v, seems like it would be even longer. This thing is getting really hot in less than 20 minutes. I am going to try a continuous duty duty Solenoid, but given the amount of time it takes this one to get hot, I am still a bit concerned something else may be going on. |

Re: RXV NEW 36v Solenoid getting hot before cart moves
Why not just order a Trombetta 36v solenoid EZGO part #609428 #608897?

Re: RXV NEW 36v Solenoid getting hot before cart moves
I am not sure if You already changed anything, but Your Hold percentage posted was 60% of 48v = 28.8v.
This is the spec sheet for that SW181 Solenoid: http://www.albrightinternational.com...onic-Issue.pdfAs You can see, the intermittent rated coil has a must pull-in voltage of around 24v (60% of 36v) and a release voltage around 10v (20% of 36v). You can change your Hold percentage to 40% and it should run a lot cooler. I think the ratings ScottyB quoted must be the Thermal Contact rating and not the coil rating. PS: The trombetta is a nice (and expensive) solenoid because it has a built-in coil economizer, You can achieve the same results using a cheaper Solenoid and the Controller built-in PWM driver features. |

Does anyone know if they make a Trombetta that will mount back like the original one did with the copper bar. I can make the one with the "L" bracket in USGI's post work, but other would be easier mount. |

Ezgo still sells the stock type with the stock bracket, I think their msrp is just over $30.

https://shop.txtsv.com/heavy-duty-36...r-electric-rxv but no pic and is confusing because it says for 2009-2014 and I thought the dannaher controller used the one with the L bracket. |

Re: RXV NEW 36v Solenoid getting hot before cart moves
My 2019 RXV solenoid also gets very hot when cart is at rest with the key on. Also if you notice there is a label on the solenoid cover that reads hot.
