Ez-Go swap TXT and Marathon Rear end - grinding
I suspect the worst - trashed Differential in my DW's 36v TXT.
Grinding in F or R. But not the splines at the hubs. I have not pulled read end off, have not gotten that deep. Possible issues: Motor shaft to Diff. Diff guts ??? I have a yard full of buggies in various states of decay - including a Marathon that is complete. Can I do a swap - pull the motor off of the bad TXT read end and install the Marathon with that motor ? Are they interchangeable ? |

Re: Ez-Go swap TXT and Marathon Rear end - grinding
Are you sure it isn't the hubs/drums on the TXT? That's a known EZGO weak point.
IDK if you can swap to the marathon rear end. Look at the spring mounting pad where it sits on the Marathon and also the TXT. If they are the same style (TXT is flat with a 3/8th or so nipple) and same width you may be able to swap. If both carts are series carts then you may be in luck just leaving the motor in the Marathon diff. Also check how the brake cables connect to see if you have to engineer a solution for that too. |

Re: Ez-Go swap TXT and Marathon Rear end - grinding
Update.
Pulled Motor. (label says Ay4-4001, AD2500-Fleet-Speed, P/N 73124G01 - all very hard to read) I think the Input shaft is rounded down. The female on the motor isn't great, but the shaft on the Differential is definitely worn - I can see a transition were it is worn and then not worn as you get deeper into the Diffy. Also, now have motor in hand. There is a TORN UP rubber blob deep inside the female spline coupling. (sorry I don't know the exact names of these items) NOW - How do I go about working on that input shaft. Duck-Duck-Go here I come. |

Re: Ez-Go swap TXT and Marathon Rear end - grinding
In the weeds on "model" of cart.... Thought I knew, now not sure.
Here is what is on the Label: 987205 24196 parts lists and "input shaft" send me in many directions. Does anyone know if this looks correct: DTR EZ2 4834 E-Z-GO Input Shaft Kit (Fits 1991-Up) Thing is, it doesn't mention the number of splines. (19 is my target I think) Thanks for all you guys (any gals out there?) do. I have hit this page to 10 years and always learn something. |

I've had good luck calling or emailing shopezgo.com. URL has changed, but that should get you there.
