Default 1993 workhorse 295cc HEI conversion

Hi I see on this site posts referencing a GM HEI conversion to replace the igniter. I have what I believe Is a 1992 or 1993 jacobsen workhorse cart with a robins 295cc. Can I convert the igniter for that engine to the HEI module? Is there a way to test the original igniter? Thanks.

I'd love to know this info also... No spark on my 1992 ezgo, twin cyl engine. I've tried three different aftermarket ignitors, no luck. I've also got a new coil coming. Hoping it's not the pulser or pickup coil. Can the HEI set up be done on these engines? Has anyone tried it? I know/suppose it would take two of everything since it is twin cylinders... Still, this is a great cart when running, and I can't let it die......
Thanks for any advice or hope! Woody

Post # 103 gives instructions on how to do it. He is probably the only one that was ever successful. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...-carts-11.html

No way to test original ignitor other than trying one that is known good. Never heard of anyone converting these Robbins 4 strokes to HEI but maybe it could be done.
Post 10 here shows how to test the pulser and igniton coil pretty close.

Yesterday I cured my ignition problem, I hope! I pulled the cover, took off the fan, everything was coated with a layer of dust that had stuck to the oil film from the crankshaft seal. This dust layer was inside the cover as well. This is a new engine, less than 40 hours, and the seal has stopped leaking I believe. One half can of brake cleaner, All around the pulser area, checked air gap, was around .020, so good there. I added about six inches of wire to the leads from the pulser to make them easier to get to. Put everything back together, it runs great. I had the spark plugs out, connected to leads and grounded, spun the engine while cover was off, great spark after cleaning.
I had read this somewhere before, but that was my problem. Drove it around for about an hour, all is good.
So, if it's oily at all underneath the engine on that side, it's worth a try!!!
