Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
Hello. I am looking to purchase a Lester Summit II charger and mount it onboard. Currently my 95 club car ds has the OBC intact and it is functioning as it should. I also have already upgraded pretty much everything else including the motor (a1) and alltrax controller (sr48500) from Scotty b.
It looks like I need to bypass the OBC prior to installing the charger. Do I also need to reprogram something in the controller? Feel free to throw out any other suggestions or things to consider when installing. Thanks |

If the OBC is working as it should, why are you replacing it?

Re: Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
I have the prior model Lester Summit mounted on board. The OBC is still installed and active. The positive from the charger goes to pack positive, the negative to B- on the Controller.
If the need arises I can still charge via the original charging port with a conventional charger. Make sure you get the Summit two that is configured for on board use. |

I totally missed the "onboard" part of the question, djohns18 comment is correct.

Re: Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
Thanks for the reply. Djohns18! So to confirm I would not need to bypass the OBC? Do you have any pics. I don’t have it in front of me but aren’t there three cables to connect with the charger. I know you mentioned two to connect. I do like the idea of not bypassing the OBC if not needed. Assuming this is the case can I still charge with original charger while Lester II is mounted and not plugged in.
Sergio thanks for the reply. The current charger is original. Having an onboard charger would work best for our situation as we use it camping and at any home and find ourselves needing to charge in various places. The original charger is quite cumbersome to haul around everywhere. Also the current charger will not keep charged after initial charge. Battery loss from idle sitting in the winter forced me to plug and unplug the charger every so often. |

Re: Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
I have a CarryAll with a cab so my installation is not typical, photos would likely confuse -
The third wire (blue I think) is a lockout to stop the cart being driven while charging. This is optional, I elected not to use. Here's a link to the Owner's Manual that describes how it works. Others on this forum will be able to advise where to connect the blue wire. |

The Summit 2 can be configured for on board or off board charging through the app.

Re: Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
The "onboard" configuration was about getting the charger with the plain leads with ring connectors.
Rstriby, neither the OBC nor the Summit II have a "float" mode. Unless the pack voltage drops, the OBC will start a new charge cycle every 15 days and the Summit II every 30 days if they are left plugged to the cart and powered. When configured for "onboard" use, the Summit can be connected to a timer so you can turn it ON once a week if you want to charge more often. |

Re: Adding Lester II to Club Car DS with OBC and Alltrax Controller
Just to be absolutely clear, I can install the Summit 2 directly to the pos and neg of the pack and not touch anything on OBC on my 2005 DS ?
