Default Onward Battery Condition Light always on

I just bought a used 2018 Onward. Beautiful buggy. I had a Precedent before this. On the Onward, the ‘Battery Condition’ light is always on (the one with multiple bars to indicate battery power). I have to turn off the tow switch to make it go off. As far as I can tell, the only electrical accessory added to it was a Wet Sounds sound bar. My feeling is the wiring is screwed up some how, but when I look at the wiring associated with the soundbar, I don’t see anything that I think will affect this indicator. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That light should be on - that's normal. If it goes out, it is off, and loses it's estimation of remaining battery capacity. When you turn off run / tow, it kills power to it, and it will screw up it's accuracy until you charge it back up to full.

Those meters are time-weighted average volt meters more or less, and need to be powered at all times. The power draw of the meter is a few milliamps at most - nothing to be concerned about.

I think there are a few versions of those meters where the LEDs themselves are turned on / off via the keyswitch, but the time-weighted volt meter is still on all the time. There are a few aftermarket ones I've seen that have 4 terminals on the back instead of the normal 2, but I've not seen a factory cart that uses that kind myself.

Enjoy your Onward!

Thanks so much! The one on my Precident was only on when the key was on, and the Onward manual didn’t say anything about it. Glad to know I don’t need to mess with any wiring! Thanks again.
