Default New cart. Help upgrading electronics!

I just realized I posted in the gas section instead of electric, so here I am!

Hey there. I'm new to the site and new to carts and looking for guidance. I'm a full time atv dealership mechanic, so I know my way around a wrench and multimeter.

I picked up what I believe to be a 1979 ezgo marathon for free from a buddy. It is rough around the edges, but ran a year or two ago before removing batteries and sitting.

The cart will be used around my campground. I would like to upgrade all of the electronics for durability and reliability, but on a budget. I've read the resistor coil is bad for lifted carts and in general, and most of the electrical components on it are old and rusty. I'm looking for help finding a kit, or a place to upgrade all of the electronics for my needs, without breaking the bank. It doesn't need to be top of the line or real fancy. Cart will have a 4" lift & tires to fit, along with rear seat.

That’s about what mine looked like before the tear down. I can’t give you advice as the components I’m using are far from budget. However after junking the old electrical crap and switching over it purrs. Good luck, there’s a lot of good info on this site if you dig for it.

the fact that its a TOASTER cart (resister coils), and considering that its lifted and larger tires....its HIGHLY recommended that you upgrade the drive system (all of the electronics) I only know one place to get a conversion kit....but its currently OOS, but you can contact ScottyB and he may be able to tell you when they will. You mentioned "on a budget"..... that really doesn't tell us what you consider on a budget....but when you are talking quality parts.....the saying "you get what you pay for" goes a long way. Contact CARTSUNLIMITED.NET and look at this page for the conversion kit https://www.cartsunlimited.net/unive...rsion-kit.html
