1994 TXT Drive train issue
My 94 36v TXT drive train is slipping and shuddering and will barely move and i could use some good advice.
Things that i have checked. Brake hubs are good. Fluid level in batteries full. On full charge batteries check 37.6 volts. All new cables. Solenoid clicks when throttle is depressed. Motor coupler splines are good but i don't know if the stater shaft has splines? All help is appreciated thank you. |

Re: 1994 TXT Drive train issue
Using JohnnieB's chart as a guide 37.6v is only 80% charged, (see below)
Make sure to check your pack voltage at least 12 hrs After the charger has completed a full charge cycle without using the cart. Check each battery's voltage as well. Make sure all of your cables and connections are tight. Others with more knowledge will chime in but you will need to provide additional info about your cart ie, drive system type, controller (stock or a/mkt) tire height. |

An even more useful test is using the cart itself to load test your battery pack. Hook your voltmeter across the pack and see how far your voltage falls when you accelerate. If it's drastic, and I'm guessing it is, you can do the same test but reading each individual battery one at a time. Find out which one or ones are dropping out.

Re: 1994 TXT Drive train issue
Thank you meimk,
I understand load checking the pack but how do you load check the batteries individually? wouldn't the cable need to be off the battery being checked? Sorry, i'm an old machinist not much of an electrician. As for the earlier post question the drive train is 36V and gear diff, it doesn't have a tow switch on the controller and the cart does have an after market lift and tires. |

No, you can clip to each battery individually while running. Voltmeter will register just that battery. Do not have to remove cables. Anything getting warm/hot when this happens?

Re: 1994 TXT Drive train issue
thank you Brad,
I will check the batteries per your suggestions and the chart in a few days when i put the drive train back together, i did a complete tear down to inspect everything. When the issue started i didn't continue to drive it not wanting to make a possible small problem into a really biggggg! one. The only thing that i see is a couple of the small wires on the solenoid (white i believe) have been hot and the insulation is discolored but not melted. I replaced all the cables with 4 Gauge even though the old looked ok and none were melted. |

Re: 1994 TXT Drive train issue
Good investment to replace wires if they were origionals (1994).
