Default 2004 Club Car DS IQ Running 25mph

I'm working on my 2004 Club Car DS IQ 48v and the car runs 25mph. I bought it like that. I want to have the motor freshened up, but cannot figure out what was done to the cart to make it go 25mph. It is on stock suspension, stock wheels/tires, and stock controller.

Any ideas what may have been done to it? I would hate to undo something unintentionally and have it revert back to the factory 14mph

If it is running that good why do you want to freshen it up?

I'm hearing quite a bit of high pitch whines from the motor and I believe it's the bearing.

Bearings and brushes might be in order! that shouldn't change anything to major.

Probably has a speed magnet in the motor, or it may have a speed motor. Hard to say without seeing the motor.
Stock motor for that year would have a Grey painted case and an Orange label if I remember correctly.

To put brushes and a bearing in it won't change the speed any. But if that is a stock motor the commutator may be heavily worn. Usually that will need to be re-finished by a shop with a proper lathe to re-cut the brush surface.
Sometimes it can just be cleaned up with emery cloth, but if the surface is grooved it will need to be done by a shop or it will ruin the new brushes in no time.

Above is a link to a video from last night. I'm not sure where the noise is coming from, but my father-in-law thinks it's a bearing in the motor.

Looks like a Stock IQ motor to me. As I said, probably has a speed magnet in it.
It will also need brushes if you take it apart to do the bearing. And likely will need to have the commutator machined to make it smooth again.

Thanks! I'm going to look at the magnet tonight. I am hoping to find a local machine shop that can freshen it up. I would love to send it to Plum Quick, but I do not want to be without the motor for so long and pay the shipping charges. I've invested too much into a 2004 cart already
