Default Robin EC25-2PG head shave

I have read a couple posts of people shaving the heads on this engine. My buddy did his g16 and gained quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone has done it and what the outcome was. Also, what would be recomended. .030 or less? Also, will the stock rod hold together with the added force? Getting ready for a rebuild and if I am going to do it would like to do it then. Any recommendations on a good machinest to do it? No hop ups for this motor so I'm looking for any horses I can get.
