Default Ez Go Engine Problem Need Help

I Have An Ez Go Older Model # 80113 211651 It Had No Compression Did A Top End Job On It New Piston And Rings I Have Good Spark It Acts Like It Wants To Start But It Backfires Sometimes Battery Is Good Carb Is New Its Getting Fuel What Else Should I Do?

If your getting fuel and spark and it sounds like that it wants to fire but back fires after a rebulid I would suspect the cam timing is off.

If this is a Robin engine, I would suggest checking the valve lash again. The are very picky about it.

I also hear on the board that 2 cycles are famous for bad crank seals sucking air.

This shows how to line up the dots on both the cam and crank gears as wellas the spec on belt tension.

Check the vavle lash first (it's easier) and if that doesn't get it look to make sure the cam is lined up. If it's off that would make it do wht your describing.

I had this same problem on my daughters Jr dragster motor and found I used the wrong marks and as such the cam timing was way off.

I would say timing also.. it's easy to mix it up doing
a top end job..
