If 30W is a prescription from EZGO, so be it.

My question is: Where do you live?
Warm to hot area is 10/15 Celsius to 25/30 Celsius = 30W
Colder = 10W to 20W.

Where we live, (The Netherlands, all year its -10 up to + 30 celsius we use mineral multigrade 20/50W
or 15/40W
Thats standard car oil, that we used over years in our slightly tuned 7 hp GX 160
If you ask much from your engine like much cold starts and or high revs use full synthetic 5W/ 40W
or better 15W/40W
5 W sometimes is to thin for older or much used engines because of sweating / leaking past the oilkeepers.
We use 1.9 liter Motul 300V Ester full synthetic including oilfilter.
This is our knowledge out of 10 years Subaruracing up to 9000 revs and GX up to 6000 revs.

Motul costs about $35/40,-- for 2 liters.
Those $15 more will come in with longer maintenance interval and longer enginelive.

I called a dealer they said to use 10-40? is that w or wt???

I would run the 30wt oil in an older engine to reduce oil consumption...
