Re: G9 Engine rebuild
I used a "T" gage and measured the top and bottom of cylinder 90 degree's to each other. Then measure with the calipers.

Re: G9 Engine rebuild
Hello, I have read on here that it is best to get the piston/rings first, then take it all to the machine shop. Makes sense to size the bore to the piston, even if it is stock.

Re: G9 Engine rebuild
Always get the piston first then take it to a machine shop if you plan on having it bored.

Re: G9 Engine rebuild
I've always heard, first find out how much it will take to clean up the cylinder then order the pistons to match. It would be bad to order 50 over pistons only to find out it will take 60 over to clean up the cylinder. Although pistons may only come in certain sizes for these engines. Just a thought.

Re: G9 Engine rebuild
Not that I am a pro at this, but after measuring my cylinder I was pretty close to spec - Example: 3.250 to 3.258, and I measured 3.251 so knew I could hone the cylinder enough to get the cross hatch in and stay with the standard size rings. After getting the new rings, I inserted them into the cylinder and checked the end gap.
