That could be several things, current heating up at contactor, internal to the controller or motor, it does' sound like a thermal issue. Having the scanner will speed up the location the issue.

I had what sounds like the same issue with my 08 iq and it was the solenoid dropping out,it would start out like it was going to go then quit and move les and les each time until nothing, then I could let it sit and it would do the same thing.
