![]() The following data may be helpful in comparing batteries among different manufacturers. Please keep in mind that only deep cycle batteries specifically designed for golf carts should be utilized in our carts. In fact, deep cycle "marine" type batteries will usually not work satisfactorily. And most certainly, automotive "starting" batteries should never be used in a golf cart. Using an incorrect battery will most likely result in short run times and early battery failure.

![]() I bought a 1993, 36volt EZGO last year with charger etc and everything has worked up to now pretty well. About a week ago my wife was going down to the beach and only got a few houses away when it started losing power. She manged to get it back into the garage and when I got home from work checked the voltages on all batteries at around 5.82 for the Trojans there are 5 and what looks like an Exide 2200 AH battery which was reading 4.6 v. I manged to get some time to work on it today and decided to put a charger on that battery alone. It is now charged up to 6.2 volts and I plan to leave it on the charger.
My question is can you mix batteries like this or is it not smart too do that and understanding consistant readings as important should I take this battery out and replace with a Trojan or replace them all since they are not reading as high as quoted above. Mixing an Exide with a Trojan, is not necessarily the problem. Judging by the year on your car, you probably have old trojan's mixed with a newer exide or vice versa. What year are the trojans, and what year is the exide? To tell scratch the post, and the number is the year(It sounds easy). If they are all 4 years or older, I would recommend replacing all the batteries. Replacing one battery out of a set of old ones is similar to replacing one D battery in a Large Mag lite. It may solve the problem temporarily, but in the long run, you will be replacing batteries more often. However, with that said, if you scratch the posts and the trojans are one year old, and the exide 5 years old, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the one. |

![]() All those ratings on the batteries are nice, but your list has no MSRP pricing or anything like that. Its impossible to compare a product without pricing... You should have an est. runtime-to-price ratio or something else!!!

![]() napa part # is 8144. I weighed battery. It is 63 lbs so I guess they are the old 3600 exide. But batteries have stickers on them saying gc-2.

![]() I just bought a used 2004 Electric E Z Go and know virtually nothing about how to maintain it. It has six Trojan T - 105 batteries. Scratching the posts yields this information "A 4", which I understand means they are 2004 batteries. Questions:
1) Does the fact that the batteries are four years old mean that they probably need to be replaced? 2) What should I expect to pay six replacement batteries? 3) Should I try to replace them with Trojan T - 105 batteries or are there better choices available? |
