Paint plastic roof for Club Car DS
Looking for suggestions on products and methods to paint the factory roof on my '99 Club Car DS. The roof is a factory 83 inch "Garden Roof" - smooth plastic that is fairly flexible and surrounded by an aluminum frame. I am looking to paint it black - want something that looks good and will hold a long time. Ideally I'd need to do this with spray cans if possible - has anyone had luck with this?

Re: Paint plastic roof for Club Car DS
I used Krylon fusion on the underside of my roof and it works great after a little 600 grit sanding.
On the top, I used a rubberized roll on truck bedliner after a 60 grit sanding. Both hand been holding up great for a year now. |

I took mine to a local paint and body shop and had it rhino lined both sides, made it a lot more durable for 125.00 bucks

I did this as well. I used herculiner Bed liner paint. You roll it on, very simple. It's all in the prep. The underside I used 5-6 light coats of fusion plasticoat. |

I did mine with Truck Bed Liner from Ace Hardware. Hides any imperfections and if anything should ever scratch it, you can touch it up with out it showing. The underside was done with Matte Black Rust-o-leum for plastics.

Re: Paint plastic roof for Club Car DS
I notice you guys used a truck bed liner on the top but not the bottom. Is there a reason you only use the bed liner on top?
Is the truck bed liner flexible? Reason I ask is my roof top is medium gage plastic - other than the aluminum frame around the edge it's pretty flexible in the middle |

Re: Paint plastic roof for Club Car DS
If you have a thin top and do both sides it will give it more strength and yes the truck liner is flexible....it's all in the prep and for what they charged me it was worth it to let them do it.

Re: Paint plastic roof for Club Car DS
I just wanted a smoother surface on the inside of the roof, so I used the paint instead of the truck bed liner. No other reason.

The bed liner I used has Kevlar mixed in with it which gives a very textured look/finish. Great for durability when running through the woods, but I wanted something smoother on the underside. |
