I agree with you both. This subject is buried here in the lithium section. I plan to start a new thread so I can hear the variety of answers.

I asked the question because of an answer Fairtax gave in this thread, post #2.
https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=187492

What concerned me was I regularly run at 10 mph averages for 10 to 15 miles.

I was worried about the heat generated damaging my controller or motor. The part of their answer regarding amperage floored me though.

Let's see what others have to say when I start the new thread in the CC electric section.

Funny how that works. The older I get, the less I seem to know. Haven’t figured out yet if ime just realizing I don’t know squat or if I’ve just forgotten the wealth of information I had when I was 19

Was I ever 19? I can't remember that far back.

13) Additional comments - Super happy I did it and I earned a lot. Did this before real drop in options were available and while I would do it again, I would strongly look at the drop in options if I did this again (my choice would be the Eco Battery). Would like to do one more cart for around the property (would be a CarryAll) and will definitely go Lithium if I find one
Bruce,

I'd like to see the specs with your new power pack when you get a chance. I'm wondering how your speed and hill performance has changed. That was post #67.

Will do, sir! It may be a bit as the cart is back buried near the rear of our garage at our rental (I am building a house and so much stuff is jamb packed into a small rental). I work all week at my real job and then work weekends on the house. Was hoping to be in by Christmas but it looks like we will miss that by a bit :( We are heading into cooler weather as well (38 here currently) which will also have an effect, I suppose.

Looking forward to having all of this behind us and being able to use the cart-WooHoo!! I can say that with the test drive with Dallas I was impressed!

Took both carts out for some rides today since it’s a nice day.

Low 50’s, enclosure on and it’s pretty windy today. 5.0 miles exactly left me at 88% (79aH). Little less than without the enclosure but man that thing creates a ton of drag (which is well worth it when the white stuff comes and I get my heater inside it) top speed today actually was 23 due to the parachute installed on the cart

Took out my 94 DS as well. It’s got a lead acid tractor supply battery Also with enclosure. Starting voltage 12.7v and voltage when I got back home was 13.1. My 2008 is a lot faster, but our top speed was 19 in this one. It doesn’t care about the extra drag or hills, goes the same speed regardless.

If you are using a full windshield in summer, I'm surprised that a full enclosure creates that much more drag, considering the frontal square footage is the same. Kind of the same comparison that driving a car with open windows creates more resistance than having them closed. Along those thoughts, I considered getting/making an winter cab but figured getting in and out 10-20 times a day would be more of a PIA than the enclosure offered comfort.
