![]() I've got an 84 ezgo thats lifted, bought it a few months back. Has ran great for me for what it is.
Well tonight my daughter goes out and backs it out of the garage and hears a pop and thinks she ran over something. She tries to go forward and no go, tries reverse again and no go. I looked at it and the drive clutch is engaging the driven clutch but the wheels aren't turning. I don't know much about these things but I'm guessing its the gears in the rear end. I won't have time to tear into it until tomorrow evening. I'm open to suggestions or comments as to whether I'm on the right track or not. |

![]() Check the cable to make sure it isn't broken or the transaxle isn't engaging fully, check the driven clutch to see if it spinning on the shaft-sheared key, check the hubs on the axles for a sheared key or splines, If all that is good............Put on your speedo and dive inside. Hope it's an easy fix.

Remove both rear hubcaps if you have them on your wheels. Then raise the rear wheels off the ground. Have someone rotate one wheel while you hold the other still. Look at the center axle nut when doing the test, and the side that spins when the other is rotated has a stripped brake drum assy. You can also check the axle nut for secureness. If one side's axle nut moves against the cotter pin then it is that side that is striped ![]() Bob |

![]() Well I did as you guys suggested tonight, and its the splines on the hub. The splines on the axle still look good. So I guess I just need to find a wheel hub or whatever.
Thanks for the tips, it only took a few minutes to find the problem thanks to your help. |

![]() Nick, You should start a new thread. When you do include the year of the cart or the model number. There are several different EZGO transmissions and you will quickly find an expert on your model.

![]() Not sure where you are located but if for some reason you might need a new rear end (which you probably dont), I will probably be getting rid of mine from my 88 gas 2 stroke soon. I'm doing a big block swap and wont need it. If that's the same rear as yours?!
