Just went back out to try it and nothing, I do not hear the solenoid click. However I checked voltage and have voltage on both post. Time to bust out the manual.

Re: intermittent throttle issues
Ok a small update, if my assumptions are correct I think I am moving in the right direction. My first assumption is that the back up alarm is under the dash behind the key switch. This was unplugged, once I plugged it in and with the key switch off and f/r switch in reverse I had a constant beep. With the key switch on and the f/r switch in either direction I would get one beep than four beeps.
If this is all correct then according to the code cart I need to check voltage at j4 pin with the pedal released and the f/r switch in forward. I have 36.5 volts. On J4 pin 1 and pedal down, I have 36.5 volts. If I have these which I do, then I need to check the micro switch in pedal box. Does this all sound right. |

Is there supposed to be a diode here. If so, what will happen if it is not in place?

Re: intermittent throttle issues
Here is where I am at.
With the key switch and the F/R switch in either direction, I was getting what I believe a 1-4 code. So I checked the micro switch, which checks outs. With the key off and F/R switch in reverse only I would get a constant beep. I went to the manual and on page f-10 which has a flow chart of some sort. I followed steps 1 through 6. At the point of checking voltage between battery b- and controller side of solenoid I thought I still had reference voltage. I proceeded to step 6 removed the resistor across large solenoid terminal and rechecked. I had zero voltage. This says to replace the resistor, but I checked the resistor and it has 250 ohms across it, so that tells me its good. I checked continuity on both large post of solenoid and none. That should tell me the solenoid is good. Now when I switch it back to run and the resistor removed I have continuity on both large post of the solenoid. Any idea why I would have continuity with run/tow switch in run but not in tow. Something tells me that something from the motor controller is back feeding through the B+ to the solenoid. For grins and giggles, I left the resistor out. Turned the key switch on and put it in forward. With the throttle depressed the cart would run, if I moved it to reverse I would get the constant beep, but the cart would run in reverse when depressing the throttle pedal. Any ideas |

Ok here is what I came up with. After reading around and doing some basic trouble shooting, I came to the conclusion that the its was out of adjustment and the batteries were never fully charged.
I will say this forum is full of knowledge and it's great to have around. Now I am going to start considering up grades, battery cables, 12 volt auxiliary connections, stereo, and windshield. Those are my goals over the winter. Then if funds permit, I will upgrade the motor controller. But I mainly wanted to say thanks to everyone for their help. |
