Default g19 battery tray rebuild and rust removal/prevention

Hello everyone.im new to this forum and somewhat new to carts(worked in the motor pool at a military base for a year mainly working on carts).finally bought one for myself.I bought a g19 from my sister for 300.batteries are shot and so is the battery tray.frame tubes are in decent condition but the rust is starting to take over.the battery tray "riser"?supports are intact and pretty solid so I plan on cutting existing channel and angle out down to the risers and will build all new from there up.any advice from someone who has done this before will be greatly appreciated.I'm a fairly proficient welder/fabricator and have my own welding rig so that won't be a problem.
Can anyone tell me about this infamous articulating rear axel I keep hearing about...I can't seem to find much information on it and was wondering if there are any mods to improve this setup or a conversion to non articulating. While I have the cart torn down I would at least like to make sure the swingarm pivot is mechanically sound.advice on that would also be greatly appreciated.

Well I found a little info on the articulating rear end and I'm just going to leave it alone.I do want to separate the pivot point though so I can clean and paint inside.I can see all the paint is flaking off inside .from what I can see the rubber looks to be in good shape...pictures coming soon of the battery tray.

Also going to replace the rear rocker panel supports on each side as they are paper thin.I plan on using 2x4 rec tube and cut a wedge out of it to mimic the factory shape of the support.

Man, it looks like you took pictures of my wives G19! Same situation. Bought steel a couple years ago and just haven't replaced the tray. Good luck. Look forward to seeing your progress!

Just curious..what size steel did you plan on using? I got 1.5x1.5x1/8 angle. Also I think I am going to cut the brackets off too and start new from the tube frame.the way they welded the c channel supports to the tube it creates pockets where moisture and corrosion hide.I really caught this frame just in time.more pics to come tomorrow when I start cutting into it.

Not trying to sway you, but G22's had a battery tray were all the batteries were in a row. Might work in this situation. If you need a picture, I'll try to dig one up.

I'm absolutely open to suggestions.I even thought about building it for 8 batteries in case I ever want to go 8x6v.not sure if you can even squeeze 8 in there though.

Got the swingarm off.now to wire wheel all of the rust off and then ospho. I'm wondering if it would be worth spending the 50 bucks to replace the pivot bushing.it has a crack on the bottom side but the top side is still solid.
