Spark Plug question for G2
I brought a tune up kits which had the air filter, belts, spark plugs etc for G2.
Everything else fit fine but the spark plug I received from them is a NGK BPR2ES but the G2 manual state to use NGK BR5ES . I tried searching the net to see if the new plug is compatible but couldn't find an answer on it. Can anyone help me and give me feedback if this new plug is ok to use in G2 engine? Thank you Bill |

Re: Spark Plug question for G2
Not sure on which gap is better and if you'd really see much of a difference. Larger gaps are usually associated with performance or high powered ignition systems. Here is a link to the manuals if you ever need them: https://www.yamahagolfcar.com/owners-manuals/

Re: Spark Plug question for G2
That plug is for newer yamaha carts like G16 and above. It is slightly longer tip IIRC. Anyway it is more resistant to fouling and recommended by yamaha cart dealer to use in G2 or G9. In my experience its the best plug for them. 0.003 not going to make a difference on gap, I usually set to lower end of range for stock engines as the plug will wear larger over time.

Re: Spark Plug question for G2
The "P" in BPR2ES designates projected tip, and in NGK plugs smaller numbers designate hotter plugs. Hotter plugs generally get into the "self cleaning" temps easier, so stay cleaner. That plug is OK for use on G2.

Re: Spark Plug question for G2
Mine actually would foul the plug. I later jetted the carb and it was better (also modded the airbox). Then used this plug and could run one for years with no problems.
