Adjustment on 290 carburator

Which way or what setting for needle screw on carb. when spark plug is colored black? It is CC 94 DS with 290 motor ,it runs ok other than plug is black but not any oil , seems maybe to rich with gas.

If that is the case, no outside adjustment of the carb is going to help you. Remove and clean the carb really good, check valves and put a new plug in it.
