Default Help with secondary clutch half moon key

I was reinstalling my secondary clutch in my g16 after getting a new spring. Is there suppose to be a washer between the inner Sheeve and the half moon key? When leting pressure off the c clamp the inner sheeve keeps pushing the half moon key out and won't hold so that I can install the outer sheeve.

There is one in there yes but a lot of people toss them out.. that being said it won't help you in your situation it will just do that same thing and push the key out it's a pain putting the clutch back together you need extra set of hands

Yep, I've done quite a few and always had someone hold them in place while I get the key, washer and nut in place.

Mine fits tight, when I let go of the inner sheave it hits the key and stops. I use a small vice grips and pull it out. I leave it in the vice grips. When I put it in I wedge the sheave back with wood such as 2x4 and tap the key/vicegrips in and let the sheave back to rest on it. Put the outer sheave on and tighten it down once I feel the key in the slot.

Just did mine recently. I used a ratchet strap over/under the passenger side frame to winch it in and hold it. Took a few tries, but worked.

You pretty much have to be a brute or use a ratchet strap to put in aftermarket springs. I can hold a stock spring pretty easy by hand the umax gets irritating I use boards to hold it.
