What kind of fuel pump did you buy? Was it one of the $10 amazon/ebay cheapies?

Remove the pickup tube from the tank and make sure the tube isn't loose on the fitting at the top. The glue stuff they use a the top can crack when it gets old and lose the seal around the top of the tube. Makes it leak air into the tube and it will lose it's prime.

Make sure the line from the tank to the pump is new, no cracks, and has good tight clamps at both sides of the filter and at the fittings on the tank pickup and the pump.

Make sure the pulse line from the engine doesn't droop down in the center. It has to go uphill the whole way to the pump. If it sags in the middle it can get oil collected in the line which will block the pulse and the pump won't work.

Thanks for the replies, Turns out it was really a very simple fix, someone had installed 3/8 fuel line, turns out that the DS doesnt like that, replaced it all with 1/4 inch and all is well Thanks Again
