Default Six New T105 Batteries - One Bad?

Three months ago I purchased 6 new T105 batteries from a local dealer.

I have used these batteries an average 3 times per week with no excessive discharging and they have worked just fine until now. Recently the golf cart has been a bit sluggish and yesterday it seemed to be dying much quicker.

I performed the Open Circuit Voltage test on each of the batteries as described on this page:
http://www.trojanbattery.com/Battery...e/Testing.aspx

I found one battery was way out of the range of the other batteries. Here are my voltage measurements:

Measured voltage after a ride on the cart:
-Five Good Batteries all measured around 6.30v
-One Bad Battery measured 4.30v

Measured voltage after fully charging the batteries and waiting 6 hours:
-Five Good Batteries measured 6.41v
-One Bad Battery measured 6.30v.

The water level in all the batteries is normal.

I performed the open voltage test for the first few weeks of owning the batteries and they all always appeared normal. I recorded the voltages for my records. This one battery did not stand out back then.

Any tips of getting this one battery back to normal? Are defective batteries common? Should I request a replacement under warranty from the dealer?

Thanks

Take it back and have them warranty it.

Yup - Trojan will warranty that without any issue. Just don't do anything to it other than take it out and have it replaced

I called the dealer today and they told me they would need to send my questionably bad battery back to Trojan for testing before giving me a new battery. They said I could be without a battery for up to three weeks during this process.

Is this how all dealers handle warranty returns? We use the cart around the property and I'd rather not be without it for three weeks.

Unfortunately the dealer is small, so they don't stock batteries.

I might call them back tomorrow and ask if I could purchase a new one and let them credit my account when Trojan approves the warranty. Not sure if they will do this. As I said they are a smaller dealer, they don't return my calls/emails, and sound as if they don't want to be bothered with my Warranty.

TIA for suggestions.

I sell alot of batteries. I would replace the battery on the spot and let my supplier bring me a replacement. I think your dealership is wrong. He must not have a very good reputation with his supplier then? I see it as you spent money for 6 new batteries - you should NOT have to wait for a good one.

They should be able to look at your cart in the shop - Test the batteries - Identify the problem - Replace the bad battery - Send you on your way with a good set...

My 2 cents...

I am a small dealer also, but I run my own test on the batteries, If I find a defective one, I replace it and then go after my supplier for the warranty. I DO NOT let my customer wait for a batt replacement.

Something tells me our friend here will be looking for a new dealership to buy from very soon

Get your battery replaced first! You should be able to take your cart and receipt for the battery to another shop. Any dealership should be able to help you. You may have to give them a few bucks for the effort, but well worth building a new relationship elsewhere...
