Default G8A - How much wiggle in KingPin is "OK"?

I got a "little' wiggle room in the front axle carrier. I didn't remove it and actually check the King pin, pre se, but curious as to how much wiggle can be tolerated before new bushings are required. Thanks

That is a call I call tipsy My finger hands are numb from diabetes yours may be those of a surgen. If you don't have clunking, wandering or uneven tire wear you are ok. IF you are uncomfortable about it then replace.
sorry not a firm do or don't

I useually jack up the front end, grab tire at top and bottom, if more then 3/16" to 1/4" of play, time for new bushings and maybe king pins and seals. Better to change to the new style "bi metal" bushings (old style were poly graphite) befor the holes in the lower control arms get damaged. You don't even want to know how mush new ones retail for now. Good luck

wonder if anyone has tried tapping the spindle and putting a grease fitting on it? so this doesn't happen so soon, becase lets face it no one takes those out to grease them.

That is why YOU will go far, You ask questions the enginers at Yamaha couldn't grasp! Some G1's had zerk fittings. Guess Yamaha wanted a "maintance" free car.....How could they not know
a shot of grease is better then the alterative. I've "pounded" out more then my share of rusted king pins. You keep asking questions, Don't be afraid to invent/ make it better.

Looks like the right angle zerks have the best threads for this. 1/4 28 tap.

I put zerks in my G1 When i replaced the bushings and pins. Used 1/4 28 straight fittings, had to take a little off the threads so the pin would clear them.
