Default Where do I start?

Ok, Guys....
I'm gonna keep it electric. Now where do I start? Should I hunt down a motor first, is there a specific one I should look for? That is a two part question. Do I ebay switches and relays? I wish you Marathon owners would send me so motor compartment pictures. Other then a good diagram, I must say I still feel lost and unsure of where of what to do next.
Appericate any help
Thanks

Projects are always exciting, but this one is going to cost you more than buying a good used cart that is much newer. I'd think long and strong before you begin this rebuild...

Motor, batteries, controller, F/R = $,$$$.$$

find another cart to gut for the parts, people will give away old 3 wheeler just to see them gone. that's what i'd do, heck somebody gave me one that was a working cart, just needs batts. that's the kinda deal to look for.

Super response guys, Thanks for the feed back. I have to make a decision. I like this cart so much, though times are tough and dollars are few these days. This cart will have to take a back seat I guess. I'm always open for suggestions.
Thanks again

Seems to me you have already received some suggestions?

Ruredy is spot on though. If your dead set on rebuilding, find a complete 3 wheeler and gut it. Any other direction is way too much $$ for a cart that age...

I can attest to the cost. i purchased mine for $500 and have an additional $3500 in it. I figured that even if I still had to replace everything (which I did) I would still come out the same had I purchased a 2003> TXT and added the same accessories- lift/tires and wheels/motor/all electrical/etc. The TXT/PDS cars do have accessories that are much more abundant but if you look hard enough you can come by the Marathon stuff readily. The only thing that I would do over is I would have gone to 48volts for not much more $$.
The knowledge you can gain from a project like yours is invaluable.
