Default Gear oil viscosity?

What viscosity oil do you use in the differential? Standard 80?

I drove my cart on the street for the very first time! YAY!!
It did really well, except for a rubbing sound coming from the right rear. I suspect I'll need to change brake shoes and the cables. But, I figured while I'm at it I may as well check the condition of the differential.

I keep regular gear oil in my garage and wonder if that's okay to use - in case I need to. Or, is there a different weight oil these things take?

Thanks.

Pat

yes i don't think an ez-go diff on an electric cart is much different than a club cars as far as gear oil goes..my manual calls for just 30w.but i went with synthetic.

Wow. I'm really surprised that a differential would take such lightweight oil.
I'm only accustomed to working on cars and trucks, so I guess electric cars are a lot different.

Well, thanks very much for the information.
