Default 89 CC rpm limiter

Hello all, im new here, been lurking around for quite some time now. Ive decided im sick of it, and wanted to ask a question... I have an 89 gas CC. I bought it from my grandpa a year or two ago, and it was running fine. Every so often, we had to tap the RPM limiter to get it to give us any spark again, then once we got spark, it ran fine. Before winter, we lost all spark, and we can not get it to spark anymore. I was wondering if there is something i can to to just wire the RPM limiter out, and just completely remove it. I realize this is a risk to my engine, but it doesnt have much life in it anymore and i wanna squeeze as much from it as possible, but i odnt want to spend 180 dollars for a new RPM limiter. Also, ive tried removing the ground wire, which didnt work. Im just sick of it sitting outside not running. I love the cart, it was my late grandmothers.
