Most of the time if the charger turns on and the meter only goes to 2 amps (which is what I think you mean, not 2 volts) it is a bad diode. Simple fix.

Just making sure, don't want to shotgun parts on the charger. So, the Powerwise II charger has this internal diode also I am assuming?

Yes, just took it apart this morning to take a look at the general condition, and see if anything was broken or burned up. Going to place an order and see if this is the fix. Thanks Scottyb!

If you want to be cautious with parts $ wait for somebody to explain how to test them.... There is an Ohms test Here somewhere?

Ironically - I just tried to charge up the batteries on my Club Car 48V that was sitting in NH all winter. The charger hummed but no movement of the charger needle. Normally it would go up to 20 or something and work its way down to zero. I put a meter on each 8V battery and about half were 7.2 and a few were only 3 or 4V. I know at least one was cracked and I need to replace them.

My buddy has a 36V EZGO that he put brand new batts in last fall. He must of left the key on or something because he told me his brand new batts were all dead on opening day. His Powerwise charger would not power on either. He said it must be too much to recharge all(?). He said he put a battery charger on each battery and brought each up to 6V and then when he put the charger on it worked normally.

I plan to bring my battery charger next time I go to the camp to see if his fix works for me.
