Default please explain "field weakening"

iv heard about these resistors, how do they work and where do i get one
how does it hook up?

I would suggest, if you are looking for more speed, that you steer away from that and stick with the safer (for your motor) method by increasing voltage.

That said, field weakening is just what is says. The magnetic field is weakened by a shunt in the series wound field which allows the armature to spin faster i.e. more speed. Torque is compromised as a result of this.
