Default over heating

I have a 2003 ezgo and when I ride around slow it just quits and if I sit there a moment it will go again. Talk to a tech at mrytle beach and he said that it was over heating and that the heat sink for the controler needed to be larger. can i fix this myself.

Is this a Series cart or a PDS cart? Either way, I am unaware of any available Larger heat sinks. Sounds more like the cart is simply going into thermal shutdown to protect an overheating controller condition. Is the cart lifted with larger tires?

OK, it's a lifted PDS cart on large tires running a freedom chip, and overheating the stock controller at low speeds. Two options:

Remove the freedom chip and see if the problem goes away

or

Upgrade the controller

The thermal shutdowns cause cumulative damage to the stock controllers. Eventually, it will shut down and not come back.
