Default Anyone ever use 12 volt batteries?

I just pick up a used 1990 (I think) that need batteries. I can get used good 12 volt batteries free. My thought is to use 3 12 volts for now until I have the money to buy the 6 volts that I need. I know run time would be much less.
Thanks

Have been running 12v deep cycles about a year. Campgrounds and such. Been fine for me. 4 adults a couple of kids, haven't been stranded nor have I noticed any loss of run time. Plus I upgraded to 48v while I was at it.

If you can get the 12vts for free, give it a shot. I have used 3 12vt T1275 batts in that past and they will work but you do lose a little run time. But, the three are 120lbs lighter than 6 6s so you gain some back there. Go for it.

One of the problems with 12v batteries is the charger and it's amp rate. The charger is looking for a certain amount of cells/plates and it doesn't see them. This results in a mismatch of pack/charger and will shorten the pack's life even more.

Thanks for all the help. I did try it and I am getting about a half hour run time on a charge. I wanted to make sure the cart ran and did not have any issues before buying the correct 6 volt batteries for it.
thanks again
