Value on used cart
One of my members has a 1993 EZ-GO gas cart with roof and windshield, only used a couple times a year and looks brand new. Wants to sell it! Would anyone have an idea of it's value?

Re: Value on used cart
A lot depends on the area you're in, the market fluctuates greatly from state to state ... For example, a late Marathon here, lifted with 22's, a fresh rebuilt motor, top, all original trim, good seats, etc sold out from under me for $1000 (I offered $700 but he held out for and got the bigger number) - a lot depends on what you're planning on doing with it, you need to add in the cost of any changes you want to make when coming up with a final number.
My crieria is to take a running, intact cart as $3-500 (for a Marathon, depending on overall condition) then add in the cost of any extras divided by two (for example, a new top end costs around $200, so value it at $100 when buying, a lift w wheels and tires is $400-ish so figure it's worth another $200 used, etc |

Re: Value on used cart
Thanks BrewCity, It was purchased new and probably only has 20 hours on it. In my area if it was a well used cart it would probably bring $1500. I think it is worth a little more.
Again, thanks for your post. |

Re: Value on used cart
Yeah, if it never saw fleet use (golf course, etc) I would definitely bump the value (especially if it was stored indoors, Marathons love to rust everywhere and it's rare to find one without any) ...
Keep in mind though (just a good thing to remember) that even though it may have been stored perfectly and seen very little use, it's a near-20 year old cart, so you definitely want to be leery of the oil injection system (although in this case it might be worth rebuilding) and you'll want to keep an eye on stuff like the crank seals, etc as well as make sure to do a thorough "once over" maintainance/lubrication-wise. Sounds like a neat find - I bet I'm not the only Marathon fan that would love to see a ton of pictures !!!! |
