Default headers or mod. Exhaust

Some time ago I remember reading about mod. exhaust.
If I recall you could drill a bigger hole in your muffler at the bottom and weld an exhaust pipe to it. My ? is dose it have to be at the bottom or can it be at the top or side. And can or do you drill throught the enter wall to. Looking to mod. my exhaust on a ez go.

Hello new guy here, I just got my first cart last week. Quick question, what does this kind of mod afford me? Thank you!

Follow the links and then the further links and
you will see that there are mixed feelings about
modding the exhaust.

2006 workhorse ST 350.
I drilled 1 3/8 hole in the center of my muffler and installed (welded) a 1 5/16 pipe 12" long pointed to the rear. It sounds good but not to loud. I drilled the hole there because there was not any room to drill it at the bottom. I did not cut block or weld the (stock) other exhaust pipe in any way. It was raining and snowing today so I did not get to road test it. Again it has a deep tone and not to loud.

You can expect this mod to make your cart louder than stock.

Yes it will be louder but it sounds good. Could not hear any thing but the belt (wind) and other moving parts before.
