Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
I gotta go with Dooms on this one. Most of the time a high octane fuel is more efficient and noticeable in a high compression situation where early detonation due to high cylinder pressure is an issue. I'm not sayin the results won't make you happy I'm just sayin from a fine tuning tweaking angle that it seems to work best in the above situation. However if you try and you like how it performs and what it does I say filler up and check the oil before you go.

Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
Get rid of NGK plugs they suck and get autolite plugs. They burn hotter and last longer. I have had better starting and running engs. in motercycles cars trucks and carts than with any other plug. If you need raceing fuel then you must have a raceing moter. Change your plugs to a hotter plug (autolite)

Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
Now I will brag some to put this to rest.
we carved, hogged and built over twenty engines a year and maybe anougther fifteen combinations of pipes and head squish, porting heights on each. Race fuel does not hold any extra horse power. It holds back detonation so you can optimize the burn time at higher rpm. Horse power is torque times rpm. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! |

Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
My cart goes faster when I wax it.
You cannot disprove this fact. You also cannot measure it objectively. |

Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
What kind of wax do you use? I could use something to make my workhorse faster. Maybe if I could lose 15 to 20 lbs that would help to.

Re: Pumped Gas or Race Fuel
Told ya Dooms was on target... Conventional gasoline contains so many detergents and additives along with ethanol that the burn in the cylinder isn't very clean or controlled. Most automobile engines all have pretty much the same amount of comp. which is low and will allow the use of gas at the pumps. Just like Dooms said. High comp. engines would detonate regular pump fuel to soon and affect power, that's why the clean and pure racing fuel is desired in an engine in higher demand. Get you a racecar engine and some turtle wax and you'll be set.
