Ribbon 244 will not start - plug not wet
I have 3 wheel ribbon 244 cart that I ran the tank dry (I know dumb move) I added fresh gas and now it will not start. I pulled the gas line off the carb and I get a good flow of gas when turned over, but the spark plug is not getting wet. It runs on starter fluid. I pulled the carb and gave it a good cleaning inside and out (Looks brand new now) but it did not change anything. Still the plug is not getting wet, I lost track of how many turns it took to get the long needle out of the center of the fuel bowl, so when I replaced it I tightened it until it stopped. I am thinking of backing it off one full turn and see what that does. Any advise would be great.
Thanks, Jayzuk |

Re: Ribbon 244 will not start - plug not wet
first, did you actually pull all the jets and clean them individually (if you didn't the carb isn't cleaned out and that's the problem - pulling and cleaning the float bowl, slide, etc will have zero effect unless you pull and clean all the jets, see diagram below where I circled all the jets that need to be pulled and cleaned in order for a cleaning to actually DO anything)
Also, tighten to the bottom them 1.5 turns out should do the trick w that screw |

also, PLEASE stop using starting fluid - number one, it robs the engine of lubrication and number two, can easily detonate in these 2PG engines and blow out your crank seals (THEN you're up a creek until you do a semi-total teardown and replace them, it's only about $10 worth of parts but still a hassle WELL worth avoiding)

Re: Ribbon 244 will not start - plug not wet
"the long needle out of the center of the fuel bowl" I read as part munber 9 on BCM's diagram which is the main nozzle. This should be screwed snugly all the way in. The slow running bypass screw is part 16. To adjust this loosen nut part 17 and screw 16 all the way in (gently) and then one and one half turn out. Don't forget to snug up the lock nut. If you lose the screw the cart will run like a pig and you may have difficulty in locating a replacement.

Re: Ribbon 244 will not start - plug not wet
Hey guys, I actually took 13 and 14 apart vs just spraying it with carb cleaner and it did the trick, she started right up. She runs better than ever. Many thanks for all your help. Site is great - keep up the good work
