V-glide arcing / cart no go
1990 CC 36v - When I hit the accelerator, the cart doesn't move and when the v-glide moves to w.o.t. it starts to arc. I have triple-checked my cables and connections and all looks good. What could be the issue. I'm stumped

Sounds like the V glide is burnt up. Pull the cover and inspect the contacts for pitting or burn marks.

The entire v-glide assembly is brand new. I removed the cover and everything looks good. You can see where it arced on the upper two contacts, but fortunately it didn't damage anything.

Have you checked the condition of the resistor coils and all of the high amperage cables?

OK. When you put the FNR in forward, I get 18.9 volts through the coils and to the motor. When you put it back in nuetral, volts drop to zero. Is that correct? Even with 18.9 volts going to the motor it still doesn't move. ???

So... Like I said, put it in forward and I get 18.9 volts to the motor without touching accelerator. Then when I hit the accelerator, the volts drop going to the motor and the coils are getting warm. Still no movement in motor/cart. Bad connection somewhere? All of my high amp cables are welding cable w/ soldered copper lugs. Could a bad connection cause the v-glide to arc like that? ARRGGH

I suppose a bad connection anywhere in the high amperage system could cause the cart not to go. Can you put the meter on the battery pack mains and see if the battery pack itself drops when you try to go?

I put a meter on the battery pack and the volts drop as you accelerate. I can't go w.o.t. because the v-glide will melt... and the coils get hot fast.

Is there any way to bypass the coils to see if they are working ?

The coils heat up, they are doing their job... You might have a bad motor?
