Default g2 timing ??? or not

i have a yamaha g2 with lift and other things and last year i took out the crank bearings. so i rebuilt it and well i was at it new piston and rings 20 thousands over and it has a little lack of power and back fires on letting off but runs better then ever. did i line up timing marks wrong ?or is there a way to check the timing with out takin motor out again or any ideas what it would be? thanks, tim

Sounds like it could be a throttle adjustment. Make sure your carb is opening and closing all the way.

ill check that when i get to the cabin this weekend. but is it posable that i am a tooth off on the timing or is that not possable

If the timing is off I don't think it's going to run good anytime.

Welcome to BGW! It does sound like a throttle issue. Adjust the throttle like Ron suggested and make sure your not missing the little spring that closes the throttle on top of the carb.

i think my cart is off a mark it runs a lot better but pressure builds up in the moter and wont start when it get warm i think the valves arent opening right but it runs a lot better.as soon as i can figure out how to set the timming for sure i will go back in.
