Re: ezgo me29 rear locker
having no luck at all..guess i will keep my eye out for a 98 -o4 rear axle now.or weld the rear spiders..i have no problem doing so,just hate the thought that the very lil pavement driving will break the rear end..
anyone have good luch with welded rear? how many yrs you been runnin it? |

You can call our sponsors and see if they even offer one for that rear end.

Re: ezgo me29 rear locker
found out the older me29 axles like mine from 94 have a smaller diff/spider gear cage that holds the ring gear..it can be changed with a 98? and up diff carrier thats bigger and it will accept the newer lockers then..not cheap tho unless you have a axle laying around
they bolt in and accept your ring gear just the same, just bigger on the inside where the spider gears go |

Re: ezgo me29 rear locker
So does the carrier come apart to get spider gears out. Why can't it be welded. If you removed the spiders couldn't they be welded on the bench then put back in?

Re: ezgo me29 rear locker
have not took the carrier aprt yet..and mine looks solid with 2 small windows ,1 on each side where ive seen others weld them there also, but surley that cant be enough,,so,,
remove the carrier, remove ring gear, then theres a roll pin in a hole there under the ring gear that has to come out, then the cross shaft that holds in the spider gears will fall,or slide out. like a car after the roll pin is out dont let the pin fall out as theres 4 spyder gears that are "supposed" to go back in the same spot, and if like a car theres cup washers under all the spider gears tht would be best to go back in the same positiong aslo. i dont se how to weld it now,but i "assume" after removing the ring gear there will be enough room to weld it up.. its such a solid lil chunk of steel that the weak link it it all after welding the gears would kinda have to be the outter axle plines and shaft id think |
