G 16 loses power up hills

Need a bit more info than that... How much of a hill? Are you wanting to fix the problem? Is it losing fuel? Is the belt slipping?

It's not losing fuel and the belt doesn't appear to be slipping I have cleaned the drive. Clutch and checked the rollers for flat spots on the main clutch Not too steep of a hill buty other cart g16 doesn't hesitate up the same hills

Usually something in the cvt. How wide is the belt, when they get worn they bog at low speeds this is much more a problem with lifted carts. If you think the cvt is all working right and belt worn I'd get the HD kevlar belt at CPP it works really nice. Its more than stock belt but not that much and should last longer. It is working great on my clone engine.

Thanks for the info. I have a brand new belt on it and also cleaned both the drive and driven clutch. Whe. I put the driven clutch back on it says to turn it to a 45deg Is that with pressure on the spring I just turn the spring to a45 before installing it into the fixed floating sheave. ?

You are supposed to put the spring in the holes it was in, or the stock holes, then turn it that much to preload the spring, then attach with the nut. Its a little bit of a pain because you need the key lined up at the final position, you have to keep it out to miss the ramps on the back side, then push it on the taper/key and you are there.

The preload controls how much it shifts out at part throttle. If you go a steady 10mph for example the more you wind up the spring the more it will rev at steady 10mph and what maybe 1/8 throttle. It will run the same at full throttle. The preload pushes it into a lower gear more or less. The various holes in the sheave and the helix are at different degrees, you use them to adjust preload in increments, because it ends up on the ramps in use.

If you have no preload it can let the belt slip down into the secondary and bog out.
