Freind with 2 stroke what size motor

I have a freind with what we belive is a 89 marathon. she needs to rebuild her motor! what motor kinda of motor is in it? compression is only 93 and its not pumping fuel thinks its a seal. so gona rebuild it?

1989 was the changeover year from the 2PG to the 3PG. If the clutches are parallel to the rear axle it is a 2PG and it they are aligned front to back (and the muffler is horizontal) it is a 3PG.

Your friend is probably right about the seal, it is worth squirting some WD40 on it to see if it makes the engine run better. Sadly you cannot test the front seal but if the rear is worn so is the front. 90 psi is not the end of the world but it would certainly be worth rebuilding the cylinder as you will have to pull the engine to change the seals.

It is a 3PG and it will never run as some oaf has stolen the spark plug.
