Yeap...The more strands you have the more surface contact area you have and welding wire (like we use) has a much much higher strand count. That's one reason it cost a little more but it is worth it. If you will notice all of the high end jumper cables like the ones that will work on equipment that requires a lot of amps to crank use large dia. welding wire. Don't pinch pennies here it will cost you in the long run.

most battery cables for auto use have a 3/8 lug where most golf cart batteries have a 5/16 stud. more contract area with a 5/16 lug
