That's a broken spring. You'll need a new spring, helix, and buttons. The sheave has some wear, but is still useable.

So the helix is not usable either? Man some of these parts are expensive!

The helix is chewed up pretty good. If you re-use it, it will just eat up the new buttons.

Well I can't afford to replace everything right now, so I tried to "fix" it for the time being. I welded the spring back together and cleaned everything up pretty good and put her back together. The belt now sits pretty close to the top of the clutch, and the cart runs better than any old gasser I ever drove. It climbed up a dirt mound in the yard effortlessly. Now I know what I need to get to make her right, and she's still usable. Thanks all that helped me out.

Thanks for the info guys. It's definitely better than it was but don't know how long the spring will hold up with MY welding..lol. I will start shopping for the parts I need.
