Default runaway marathon

Just finished rebuild of 90 marathon 3pg thanks to all the help on this forum. Motor starts and runs great but is running way too fast. I put all governor and carb linkages back just like they came off the only thing I changed was I took oil tank off and am going to run gas premixed. Could it be that without the friction of oil pump it could be changing how the governor works?

Jeepers, that's a change in question. Running to fast for you, wow, wish mine was to fast for me.
No I do not think the friction is any problem at all. You may be running real lean on your mix however and that will take out an engine in time if not fast if bad enough. Mix 128 to 1 is factory but many run with diff ratio's. I prefere a bit on the high side for oil just to be safe.

I'm running 40:1 for first tank to break in. I figured it out, when I put motor back in the throttle and governor linkages got out of whack. Too fast is fine with me but I have two teenage boys that ride it at campground also and I know how I was at that age. Just don't want to red line new motor. Thanks for all the help.
